This fantastic evening option is ideally suited for clients to maximize an allocated travel day to or from Tongariro, or clients who would like to experience the volcanic terrain but are not keen on the more strenuous full day treks while experiencing Tongariro National Park at this stunning time of day.
The Two Hour Sunset Walk is perfect for tour groups and individuals who arrive mid to late afternoon into the area and who are departing the following morning.
The walk is a quite an easy grade track on Mt Ruapehu. We start by picking you up at your accommodation and drive up the Whakapapa road to a height of 1500m on Ruapehu, we then head out walking for 45 minutes on the "round the mountain track" to a ridge where we can sit relax and watch the sun seting over Mt Taranaki 140kms to the west, whilst indulging in one of NZ's finest wines. Your guide will talk about the area with his local knowledge of geology, volcanology and New Zealand cultural history. A stunning time of day with great sunset lighting in a majestic Alpine setting.
